Can Jira be integrated with Azure DevOps?
Yes — Jira integrates with Azure DevOps through Getint's connector, which supports Jira Cloud, Jira Data Center, and Azure DevOps Services. You can configure bidirectional sync of work items including bugs, user stories, tasks, and epics. Custom fields, comments, attachments, and inline images all transfer between platforms. Sync rules are configurable via Getint's UI or Groovy scripts, letting you filter which items sync and how Azure DevOps work items map to Jira issues. Authentication uses OAuth or a Personal Access Token depending on your Azure DevOps organization setup.
What is Azure DevOps called now?
Azure DevOps is still called Azure DevOps. Microsoft rebranded Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) to Azure DevOps in September 2018. The cloud-hosted version is Azure DevOps Services; the self-managed version is Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server, TFS). Getint's connector supports Azure DevOps Services and can connect to multiple Azure DevOps organizations within a single integration. If your team is migrating from TFS or VSTS, the connector works with your current Azure DevOps organization URL without additional reconfiguration.
Can Jira be used for DevOps?
Jira is primarily an issue tracking and project management tool, but it connects to development toolchains. Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center both surface commit messages, pull requests, and build statuses directly on Jira issues via native integrations. When you connect Jira and Azure DevOps with Getint, developers can stay in Azure DevOps while project managers and QA teams work in Jira — updates flow automatically between the two platforms. This makes Jira an effective planning and visibility layer in a DevOps workflow without forcing teams to consolidate onto one tool.
Why Jira over Azure DevOps?
Most organizations use both rather than choosing one. Azure DevOps excels at code repositories, build pipelines, and release management; Jira is the standard for backlog management, sprint planning, and cross-team issue tracking. Teams with distributed workflows typically run Jira for business-side coordination and Azure DevOps for development activities. Integrating the two with Getint means neither team has to switch tools. If you are evaluating which to standardize on: Jira offers broader Atlassian Marketplace app coverage and more flexible workflow configuration; Microsoft Azure DevOps offers tighter integration with the Microsoft development environment and Azure cloud services.
What fields sync between Jira and Azure DevOps?
Getint syncs a wide range of fields between Jira and Azure DevOps: titles, descriptions, statuses, priorities, assignees, labels, custom fields, comments, attachments, and inline images. On the Azure DevOps side, iteration paths and area paths can be mapped to Jira fix versions or components. Work item types map across both systems — for example, Azure DevOps bugs to Jira bugs, Azure DevOps user stories to Jira stories. You can configure field-level sync rules in the Getint UI or write Groovy scripts for complex mapping logic.
