Another new, great, corporate-friendly feature has been added to the GetInt platform!
This time, it’s a support for Proxy.
At GetInt, we’re a feedback-driven product. We were recently approached by a big European Atlassian Platinum Partner to work on a complicated project for an EU bank in Austria.
Since it was a bank, the requirements for security were very high – this time even higher than usual. For the first time, the requirement was to use a proxy to access the client’s Jira Data Centers (we were implementing Jira – Jira integration).
What makes GetInt a unique tool for enterprises is our approach to personalizing the platform. We believe that the tool should meet the customer’s needs, not ask customers to take the product as is, and adjust their requirements and needs.
As we heard from the CEO of this Atlassian Partner, no other company was eager to work with them to customize the tool to the complicated needs of their customer.
We said that if the possibility exists, we will find a way.
After setting up the scope, our team delivered the requirement.
What was also important, GetInt was chosen because it can work fully behind the firewall.
Adding support for Proxy for Jira integrations
That being said, in the OnPremise version of the getint platform, you can define a proxy, which should be used to communicate with the apps you want to integrate with Jira. Getint as a native Jira application will use proxy settings set up in Jira.
What is Proxy
A proxy, also known as a proxy server, is an intermediary between a client and a server. It acts as a gateway or intermediary that facilitates communication between the two endpoints by forwarding requests from clients to servers and responses from servers to clients.
Here are some use cases for proxy servers:
Anonymity: Proxy servers can be used to hide the IP address of a client, which can help protect their privacy and prevent tracking. This is especially useful for users who are concerned about their online activities being monitored.
Access control: Proxy servers can be used to restrict access to certain websites or content, by blocking requests to specific IP addresses or domains. This can be useful for businesses or organizations that want to limit access to certain websites or content for security reasons.
Content caching: Proxy servers can cache frequently requested content, such as web pages, images, or videos, to improve performance and reduce bandwidth usage. This is useful for organizations that have a large number of users accessing the same content.
Load balancing: Proxy servers can distribute incoming requests to multiple servers to balance the load and prevent any single server from becoming overwhelmed. This is useful for websites or applications that experience high traffic volumes.
Security: Proxy servers can be used to add an additional layer of security to network traffic by inspecting incoming and outgoing traffic for malware or other threats. This can help protect against hacking and other cyber attacks.
